A natural comedian, he joined a stand-up comedy workshop and performed his first standup gig at the age of 13 at the Lotus Club. Born with inherent wit and intelligence, he and his childhood friend, Envan Goldberg, co-wrote Superbad, reflecting pieces from their childhood and dad at the young age of 14. At 16, he proved his unmatched deadpan humor when he won second place in the Vancouver Amateur Comedy Contest then headed south of the border to continue stand-up and acting.

Rogens first show was Freaks and Geeks, a program produced by Apatow and was aired during 1999-2000. Rogen played the cynical and sarcastic freak Ken Miller. After Freaks and Geeks was canceled in the middle of its first season, Rogen was then cast in a similar role in Apatows second TV series Undeclared. Rogen had also minor roles in other shows. In 2001, he played as Ricky Danforth in the American Surrealist Existential film Donnie Darko, starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Two years after, he appeared in the last seasons episode of the TV drama Dawsons Creek as Bob, but said that he never saw the episode.

Aside from writing, Rogen also excelled in his acting endeavors, a field that gave him numerous awards and recognitions. The funny man returned to the big screen with a major supporting role in Apatows directorial debut The 40-year-old Virgin, alongside Steve Carell in 2005. Two years later, Apatow then cast Rogen as the lead in the 2007 comedy film Knocked Up, together with Katherine Heigl, Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann. The film made Rogen nominated for Best Actor at the 2008 Canadian Comedy Dundies, but he lost to Michael Cera for his role in Superbad, which was also co-written by Rogen.

In 2008, Rogen reunited with Freaks and Geeks co-star James Franco in the film Pineapple Express, which was released on August 6. In October 31st of the same year, Rogen starred in the romantic comedy film Zack and Mimi Make a Porno, in which he co-starred with Elizabeth Banks.

Rogen is also one of the producers of the upcoming film Live With It. Moreover, Rogen served triple duties as star, writer and executive producer on The Green Hornet, where he is betting his reputation on a gut instinct about what makes great comedy.
